Jennifer Silliman

My name is Jennifer Silliman and I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500) registered with the Yoga Alliance and a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). In 2020, I founded Chrysalis Yoga which provides personalized private yoga therapy sessions and group yoga classes custom tailored to meet the students' specific needs. I am also certified in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Chair Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Adaptive Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.

My yoga journey started 12 years ago when I decided to just try out a class. I knew instantly there was something special about yoga and how it made me feel. Having a background in dance, I loved connecting movement with the breath. My yoga practice for many years was inconsistent though, and I struggled with making myself a priority. However, I kept feeling pulled towards yoga and when I was at a place to commit more to my yoga practice, the transformation I experienced was profound.

In 2020 at the start of the COVID pandemic, I had a yoga studio built in my home and completed Yoga Teacher Training. I enjoy sharing my yoga practice with others through private sessions (virtually or in-person), group classes (virtually or in-person), group classes at a local gym, and private groups/classes and events. I enjoy working with clients that range from the simply yoga curious and completely new to yoga, or have had minimal to moderate yoga experience. I tailor my sessions to meet the students where they are in their practice using a variety of styles and yoga practices. My classes are a range of vinyassa, yin, and restorative bases on the needs of the students that are present. I offer modifications for all levels and want yoga to be accessible to everyone. My classes always include pranayama and guided meditation, and occasionally some elements of Reiki. In 2024, I completed a 2 year Professional Yoga Therapy certification program and submitted a 171-page dissertation on Yoga Therapy in the Treatment of Stress Related Chronic Conditions.

Outside of yoga, I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) and have worked in the child welfare field for the past 20 years. In addition, I have been an Adjunct Professor for 11 years teaching courses in Social Sciences and Social Work. I have training in mental health, trauma, and addiction, and would love to provide yoga as a supplement to traditional treatment. I understand the importance and value of intentional self-care. Through my work as a LCSW-C, as well as my own life experience, I have come to appreciate the strong connection between the mind, body, and spirit. When that connection is nurtured and empowered, miracles of transformation occur.
