Joy Riley is a Physical Education Professor at Harrisburg Area Community College, where she teaches a broad range of wellness courses including Nutrition, Stress Management, and the Components of Physical Fitness. With over 25 years of experience in fitness, movement, and athletic programming, Joy brings depth, clarity, and passion to every class she leads.
She holds national fitness certifications through NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association) and the IDEA Health & Fitness Association, and completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification in 2018 at Power of Now Oasis in Bali, Indonesia. Joy continues to expand her yoga education with a focus on flexibility, functional movement skills, and the health of fascia, tendons, and ligaments, integrating this knowledge into her teaching for improved mobility and resilience.
Joy’s professional background is rich and diverse. She has taught yoga and Pilates in several wellness studios, including Healing Habitat in Palmyra and currently Sol Studio in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In 1985, she founded Jump with Joy, a Lebanon-based dance studio that cultivated community through creative movement. She later earned her PTR tennis professional certification and now serves as the Head Tennis Professional at the Lebanon Country Club, where she directs youth and adult programs, cardio tennis, clinics, and seasonal events.
In 2020, Joy launched Yoga for the Sport of It, a specialized program offering yoga and Pilates fusion workshops tailored for athletes and sports teams. Her teaching style blends strength, stability, flexibility, and mindfulness, helping students enhance performance, prevent injury, and build lifelong wellness practices.
Joy is known for her uplifting presence and her ability to inspire every student—on the mat, in the classroom, and on the court.
