Marisela Sanchez

Marisela Casper Sanchez became passionate about teaching yoga in 2011 as a Spanish immersion educator for grades K-2 and while attending a Yoga Calm professional development teacher training.  She was inspired to attend yoga classes for herself and found her practice be to a venue to cultivate awareness, mindfulness, and ease stress and tension.  Marisela's MEd. focused on yoga and mindfulness for students in the classroom.

In 2017, Marisela joined Heartwork Yoga Studio and completed her advanced yoga 200RYT teacher training program.  Since then, she continued her in depth Yoga training education as she completed additional education courses including “Explore the 8 Limbs of Yoga:  A Practice-Based Workshop” in 2017 and two weeks of continuing education on “Yoga for Strength and Endurance Challenge through Yoga International in 2019.”

Marisela has worked with Carleton College Recreation Center since July 2017 teaching different types of yoga classes to staff, students, alumni, and the Spanish-speaking community in Northfield.  Marisela specializes in high energy classes balanced with accommodations for all levels. She has designed and taught a variety of classes including power yoga, yoga sculpt classes, and chair yoga classes for all levels and adapted for older adults and individuals recovering from physical injuries.

Marisela has also formed valuable collaborations that brought Yoga out into the Northfield community. One of her favorite classes included Hatha yoga for the Spanish speaking community, one at Heartwork Yoga Studio, a partnership with HealthFinders (a low-income health collaborative), and specialized classes for women offered in Spanish.  She has also partnered with Northfield Schools to teach yoga for teenagers to assist with relaxation, breathing, and reducing stress at the Middle and High schools.
