Mary Claytor

Hello!

My name is Mary, and I am from Denver, Colorado. Currently, I'm pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work at Syracuse University, with the goal of becoming a therapist. Along with my studies, I teach yoga and blend my interests in psychology, social justice, and advocacy to promote well-being.

I have always been interested in the fitness and wellness industry, but yoga has helped me immensely in terms of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The practice has taught me the art of surrender and gratitude for life, regardless of the circumstances. To deepen my understanding of yoga, I completed my 200 Hour Teacher Training at Down Under Yoga in Boston, Massachusetts, and was mentored by Dr. Sabbi Lall, Michael Ponte, Kate Heffernan, and Braxton Rose.

As a yoga instructor, my mission is to create a nurturing and empowering environment for my students, where they can explore the balance between playfulness and focused concentration in their practice. I achieve this through a combination of breath-centered movement, alignment-focused postures, uplifting music, and deep meditation. I aim to inspire my students to find joy and ease in their practice while also honoring the discipline, dedication, and courage it takes to cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. During my classes, you will sweat, laugh, and experience moments of self-doubt, only to surrender and reconnect with who you truly are again.

I believe that practicing yoga can help us develop a deep sense of self-awareness, compassion, and resilience that extends beyond our yoga mats. My hope is that this personal transformation will inspire others to give back to their communities, just as they learn to give back to themselves. When I'm not studying or teaching yoga, I enjoy music, traveling, and spending time with my loved ones.
