Before becoming a personal trainer, I was a social worker for 13 years. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinios-Chicago. Making the change to personal training in 2008 literally changed my life. I still consider it social work, but instead of mostly involuntary clients, my clients all come to me willingly and quite happily! I truly have enjoyed working with each and every one of my clients!
I have been employed by the Elmhurst Park District as a personal trainer for 2 years. I've trained all levels, ages, as well as, both males and females. I use all types of training programs based on each individual's goals. These types include, but not limited to, interval training and circuit training. I've also been an integral part of their Industrial Athlete program. This program works with employees of a large factory in Elmhurst. These clients take part in more of a functional training program to decrease their chances of getting injured on the job. Lastly, I've completed both pre and post-assessments to determine body composition, cardiovascular fitness, and muscle strength.
Last June, I started my own boot camp business called Elmhurst Boot Camp. What started out as a "summer boot camp", turned quickly into a year round boot camp. I incorporate several different types of workouts. I've facilitated over a hundred workouts, and never once has one been duplicated. Last month, my business expanded into two separate boot camps. I demonstrate a professional, friendly, inviting environment for all of my campers. I also provide modifications for those who need them on particular exercises. I complete body composition measurements for those who choose to participate.
