- Kiara Wood
I am a junior at the University of Georgia where I am pursuing an
undergraduate degree in Health Promotion and Behavior. Â I have completed
studies in Women’s Health, Health Consumerism, Public Health, Dietetics, and
Wellness. Â
I am certified as a Group Fitness Instructor by the Aerobics and Fitness
Association of America by completing training requirements for Group Fitness,
Basic Skills and Choreography, and Group Resistance Training. Â I have been
working for more than two years as a Group Fitness Instructor at the University
of Georgia’s student recreation center teaching a variety of classes including
“Step and Sculpt,†‘Triple Fit†and “Abs.† During the summer of 2009, I also
taught a step class for the BodyPlex of Commerce, Georgia. I work with various types of equipment including steps, body bars, bosus, stablilty balls, free weights, and elastic tubing, as well as gravity.
Additionally, I volunteer on a regular basis at the UGA Health Center
as a member of the  “In Sickness and In Health†Student Group and at the Athens
Council on Aging’s Adult Day Care Center.   Currently, I am completing a
practicum with the Partnering Ambassadors for Life and Service within the
Women to the World organization. For the months of February through April,
I am designing and implementing an introductory health and nutrition class for
women of the local community.
