Karoun Charkoudian

After receiving her Bachelors and Masters degrees in geology, Karoun worked in the corporate world in Houston.  Knowing Corporate-America wasn't for her, she quit after a few years and plunged into weeks of intensive yoga trainings.  It was at that time that her calling to heal and energize people's lives through yoga came to her intensely -- through an unusually heightened sensitivity to people's energies and feelings -- her sense of compassion.  Interestingly, the Sanskrit word for compassion is "Karouna"  The synchronicity does not end there!  This unusual sanskrit parallel was only the first reason she chose the name her studio "Karoun."  Karoun means "Spring" in Armenian.  The yoga experience and springtime are both a time of rebirth and new growth.
