Julia Petrasso

Julia was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, where she would go on to attend Law School. She is In-House Counsel for the Office of the Sheriff, in North Carolina. She discovered yoga in 2020, as a means to practice grounding and emotional regulation. She says it was the greatest gift she ever gave to herself and her family. Continuing on with her journey, Julia became a certified instructor in November of 2022.

Julia teaches at various studios in her community, classes include Hot-Power Yoga, Yin-Yasa and Vinyasa flow. She also became certified to teach Stand Up Paddle Yoga (one of her favorites) in August of 2023.

In March of 2024, Julia opened up her own studio, called Poolside Yoga Flow. This serene space offers inclusivity and acceptance of all levels of yogis. Practitioners are lead (in various leveled classes) surrounding her saltwater pool, under the sunshine, while basking in all that nature has to offer. Her website and expansive offerings can be found at poolsideyogaflow.com

Julia is an expert at hosting personal events, retreats, and corporate parties and has travelled to places such as Asheville, North Carolina, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico to lead and guide yoga practitioners. Julia has hosted numerous Spring and Autumn Retreats at her studio and abroad surrounding various intentions including Astro Yoga, which is the practice of aligning yoga postures and sequences with astrological cycles to harmonize the energy flow within the body, with the energies of the planets and zodiac signs.  The practice is tailored to individual astrological charts, making it a highly personalized form of yoga.
AstroYoga provides a wide variety of benefits to include physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and a deeper sense of connection with the universe.

Julia also founded the Pitt County Detention Center Yoga Program, for women in recovery. Since starting the program in 2022, Julia recruited twelve other instructors to provide classes to those in incarceration. The women are now able to take classes weekly and have discovered movement, journaling, and meditation as a form of therapeutic healing.
