My husband and I visited this resort October 20, 2019. We pretty much exclusively choose Secrets resorts, and have stayed at 7 in Mexico and in Montego Bay. Aura is a little older than many, but is well maintained. Rooms are clean, comfortable and roomy and the staff is so great. Everyone is eager to help and to please. The entertainment team is led by Adrian, and everyone on the team is amazing. Gilberto, who runs the gym at Sunscapes was so welcoming and helpful. He was always there to adjust the temp in the room and to offer assistance and support. They genuinely seemed appreciative of FitBodies and to have a yoga instructor. The only reason I didn't rate this resort 5 star is because the food in the restaurants and room service didn't quite measure up to what we have experienced at other Secrets. That said, the food was for the most part good, and plentiful and the beauty of the beach and the water more than make up for any disappointment we may have had with food. If you are a snorkel lover, a diver or even just prefer the beach to the pool.........this resort doesn't disappoint.

I taught an 8 am vinyasa flow yoga class in the gym. Participants were all ages, from children to people in their 60s. I had between one and 11 students each day. I also taught two evenings at 5pm for the entertainment team only.

Spent a week teaching yoga @ 9:am daily. I had 4 people 1st day and a consistent 9-12 everyday after that with a core of 6-8. The yoga/Pilates was cozy with 12. Several people did not speak English which made it fun. I brought my own music and speaker and would recommend you do the same. I also brought a couple of straps and wish I had brought more or some old ties that I could have left behind as everyone used them. I arrived 30 minutes early to sweep the room, set up and wipe down mats and get into my teacher head space. There are 12 blocks. When class was over I told people to leave everything where it was and I put it all away for them. I cannot agree with any of the negative comments on TA about the resort. I had a 2nd floor room. 4424. When I arrived it had that tropical musty smell that all tropical places have when it rains. The smell evaporated as the grounds dried. Staff were fantastic. I was travelling alone and thoroughly enjoyed the option of solitude or taking part in a busy party pool. I felt completely safe. I do tip everyone for everything so this may have made the difference in my service experience. To put it into context I tip $1 US for a drink and will give $3 for breakfast/lunch. $5 for dinner and always leave $5 on my pillow with a request for extra coffee, real milk left in the fridge for my morning coffee and extra water. I spent a total of $200 US and that included my transportation to and from the airport. I would return in a heartbeat.

I was given the option of teaching two classes a day at 8am,9am and 5pm. I choose to teach at 8am and 9am. I taught a general group fitness class with lots of variations. There was no class on the first day (Monday), as I was not on the schedule. For whatever reason, the entertainment team were not aware they had an instructor coming, and had scheduled yoga classes for the Monday schedule. We got it all figured out and I taught classes Tuesday through Saturday. I had 2 to 3 individuals per class (there were two 8am classes that no one attended). The Thursday 9am class included the entertainment staff (10 participants in total) and I spent time after the class demonstrating a variety of program options for the staff to use in their classes when there was no visiting instructor in place. The classes were taught in the yoga studio (though there was problems with the piped in music from the spa that they could not turn off). There were mats, but very little other types of equipment. I used my own music and wireless speaker and recommend visiting instructors do the same. The entertainment staff were a hard working and terrific group of people. I joined them in the aquatics class in the pool when they asked me to join them and help them drum up support for the class. If I could do anything for this group, I would buy them fitness bands for their fitness classes.I loved being here at Secrets Aura Cozumel, and the only reason I am not going back to this resort next year, is because I have set up three weeks of teaching in Jamaica in 2018.

3 days I taught 9 am and 5 pm classes. The 9 am class was between 3-6 people and the 5 pm just one person. The next 2 days were just 9 am class and the last day was 9 am and 5 pm with no one at the 5pm class.he entertainment team at the resort treated me very special, it was fun at events throughout the week where they introduced "Yoga Teri" and encouraged others to take the classes. The schedule at 5 pm I don't think works for the vacationers who are in the middle of there day. Also you teach inside the gym not outside on the beach or by the pool. The gym is nice, they have mats and blocks to use. They appreciated the flyer I bought and had it posted in 2 locations.

8 am each day teaching pilates. The first day I had no-one then averaged between 1 and 3 each day. The teaching program was great, the entertainments staff were friendly and willing to help in anyway they could

I taught one class on Tuesday-Saturday at 9 AM in their fitness center. When I arrived on Sunday, Adrian said he didn't know what time I would arrive and didn't want to promote a class until the teacher arrived. (There is a number of things that can go wrong getting to Cozumel from Cancun.) So he said he wanted me to start on Tuesday and only wanted me to teach at one, instead of both adjoining resorts. I averaged 5-6 students per class, some days were more a couple days were less. The yoga room was perfect.

After meeting with the E Team, it was decided that I would teach body sculpting 9:30-10:15 Monday through Friday. They suggested I take Saturday off and, after assuring them that I would be happy to teach that day, they were pretty insistent that it wasn't necessary. The teaching location was perfect - an air conditioned pilates/yoga studio with a beautiful jungle view. I had 3-5 participants.

My husband and I stayed at Secrets Aura 12/4/16-12/11/16 and were so pleased with the resort. I taught 1 class a day Monday through Friday - body sculpting from 9:30 to 10:15. The E-team said I didn't have to teach Saturday and I told them I'd be happy to teach all 6 days, but they assured me that wouldn't be necessary . Classes were held at the adjoining Sunscape resort in a beautiful, air conditioned pilates/yoga studio. Granted the resort is not quite up to Secrets Maroma standards, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was a bit plain but very large and had an amazing full ocean view. It was gorgeous! Most of the restaurants are ocean front for lovely dining. The rooftop Sky Bar is a great place to see beautiful sunsets. The snorkeling right off the beach is fantastic! We saw hundreds of fish and even some yellow stingrays during our daily afternoon snorkeling. I would definitely return to this resort!

I just completed a week at Secrets Aura Cozumel and unfortunately cannot recommend this resort for any discerning instructor. This old resort does not meet basic Secrets standards and if you are a Secrets fan (or looking for a luxurious experience in general), you’re much better off going to e.g. Secrets The Vine or Secrets Playa Mujeres. TEACHING: I met with the wonderful entertainment manager, Alejandro (Alex), right on arrival and he told me I would teach yoga every day at 9 am at Secrets and Zumba every day at 10 am at the adjacent family-friendly Sunscape property (45-minute classes). I had 3-7 participants for my yoga classes except for Monday when no one showed up, and I taught them on the beach outside the lobby area. There is no dedicated area (gazebo/palapa/bar etc.) at this resort to teach classes, and there are no mats or other props so you have to use towels; you also can’t play music. The view at the beach is lovely, however. The Sunscape classes take place on a raised stage that’s partly covered, with a stereo for your music. One of the entertainment team members attended the Zumba class every day, and on a few days, it was just her and my companion taking the class (but they clearly wanted me to teach in any case, even without actual resort guests participating). At best, I had 5 people for Zumba, which is just about the number that the stage comfortably fits. RESORT: This old resort used to be something else before it became a Secrets 4 years ago, and the age shows. Everything is slightly dilapidated and most definitely not up to Secrets standards (e.g. no double vanities, no bathtub in every room etc.): “clean” towels, napkins and sheets still have stains on them; our sink was cracked and the shower didn’t drain properly, causing a sewage smell in the bathroom; paint is peeling all over the resort... Maintenance and service at the resort was likewise a constant issue. We didn’t get the Sundial, turndown service, or minibar refresh in our room, and even after we mentioned this to the front desk, the service was extremely spotty. All of the pools have lots of organic waste and dead bugs in them, and they are not cleaned. Many of my class participants had their rooms flooded on a rainy night – it literally rained into their beds. The food was subpar and there are only 4-5 restaurants. The gym is fairly small and likewise very old; the treadmills are in direct sunlight for most of the day and there are no shades. We didn’t even use the spa because it was under construction and the facilities looked small and dingy. Finally, be aware that there are lots and lots of animals and bugs all over the resort, including iguanas that literally walked over people’s feet at the Oceana restaurant at lunch (geckoes and black birds were all over our other meals if we ate at any of the outdoor restaurants). All in all, Secrets Aura was a disappointment as a resort and especially not worth the extra trek to Cozumel.

Beautiful facility. Grounds are well maintained. Staff is friendly and enthusiastic. It is truly an international destination so I suggest learning basic cues....left, right, inhale, exhale, etc. in Spanish. It's a great place for those like me who like to scuba in the afternoons because both classes are in the morning.

I taught one class at 11-11:45. Some days no one came but I still "taught" to try to gain enthusiasm. Usually one of the entertainment staff would dance with me. My last day I had 4 students and we had a blast! Some people would dance along with me from the pool. This experience was amazing. I was very skeptical at first but everything went as promised and was smooth. I will be doing this as long as my body can hold out! There is no better way to travel! Thank you so much!( it was my honeymoon as well so thank you for making it wonderful)

What an amazing time!!!! This was my first FitBodies trip but will definitely not be my last! :) Beautiful place, beautiful people! I taught two 45 minute 'dance fitness' classes per day. One at Sunscape at 10am and one at Secrets at 11. Loved the times...not too early or late. Both were poolside. Had anywhere from 2-10 people and a couple of times, no one showed...due to weather and occupancy was low the week we were there. The entertainment team was wonderful!! They always participated and made everything a lot of fun! If you teach a cardio class, I suggest to make sure you have a hat, sunglasses and maybe an electrolyte drink/ powder or even OJ handy...and of course, lots of water and a towel! The poolside location was hot and I had to make sure I was taking care of myself in that way. If you love to dive or snorkel, this is certainly the place for you! My husband was open water certified while there. I snorkeled and was absolutely amazed!! Definitely hope and plan to go back! Thank you for the awesome opportunity!!

Taught a class on the beach at secrets 9-945 and then at Sunscape in the outdoor theater 10-1045. About 4-9 people in all classes, the beach yoga was more popular.I loved it here! I brought my best friend and we both loved the staff, food, and our room was amazing. The schedule was great for the yoga too, nice to be done for the rest of the day! You can also rent snorkels and paddle boards for free so we did that a few times, and also went to some of the parties they had on the beach. Would love to go back!

Yoga class was held at 9:00 am, poolside. That resort was beautiful! The resort is beautiful, easy to get around and service was great. > The resort upgraded our room which was gorgeous. Only taught 1 class in the morning. Lots of activities to take advantage of or could just chill. Bring water shoes, the beach is a bit rough if you plan to do a lot of walking on the beach.

Just came home last night from working here. The entertainment staff was very versed in having a FitBodies Instructor and were friendly to work with. Different members of the staff attended each and every class (as instructed by their boss) to learn some techniques and skills. I taught 2 classes for all 6 days there back to back, and classes lasted about 45 minutes so you had enough time to make it between resorts and get set up for the second class. The first class you can do on the beach, on the pier or wherever depending on the weather. Everyone wanted something different so I varied it up to try to please the most folks. The second class you have the outdoor amphitheater to teach in. You will need your own speakers for the first class that are battery operated. For your second class, the E-staff will bring a larger set of speakers that you can plug your MP3 into. I had folks in every class, most of whom attended all classes all week. They have no fitness equipment available, so all class designs need to use bodyweight only.

Secrets Aura was wonderful, but bring water shoes if you want to really enjoy getting into the ocean there. The beach is good, but as soon as you enter the water, it is mostly rock with small patches of sand. Sign out a mask and snorkel from the water sports hut and explore the pier area to see some great fish. > The teaching schedule was terrific! Two morning classes and the rest of the day is yours. The entire staff at Secrets Aura (entertainment team, restaurant servers, grounds keepers, housekeepers, front desk) were all super friendly and helpful. There are not tons of activities at the resort, but if you are a diver, that seems to be the place to go. It is also very relaxing (bring plenty of books, as it is hard to find one at the resort, though they had a few in the Preferred Club near the Manatee pool). Also, you can borrow a bike from the resort, or rent a scooter. $65 including taxes and insurance to rent a scooter for the day and explore the rest of the island.

This, like so many other Secrets resorts was very well kept; the grounds are clean and inviting. The staff was fabulous in support of your skills, your schedule, and your setup. There wasn't a morning when the stereo wasn't ready and the entertainment team was always ready to help. Unlike some other Secrets, the food just wasn't that great. Though not a vegetarian it didn't seem that there were many options if you were. Salad was always available but with limited toppings and options to spruce it up. Flavor was "meh" and food was often no more than lukewarm. Pilates was well received with 7 on Day 1 but the schedule switched to Zumba. It was hard to get people to participate out of the water but for the last 3 days we had 3-5 each day. When in the water for one day, the speaker was perched on the edge of the bar uncomfortably close to the edge near the swim up bar access. I felt like one Lil John Bass bump was going to electrocute innocent drinkers so from that day forward, sans an extension cord, we did land Zumba. All in all a great resort and yet another very nice teaching experience. Don't forget that half the restaurants you are used to at Secrets are located on the sister resort next door.

I was originally going to teach Boot Camp but after speaking with Alex the entertainment director, we decided on a stretching class. The resort is small and quiet. I was scheduled to teach 9 a.m. at Secrets Aura and then 10 a.m. at Sunscape next door. I did not have anyone come to the classes except my last day, when I had 4 people. It was a new batch of guests at the resort. They enjoyed the class and requested that it be on the beach, in the sun, which was very hot even at 9 a.m. This resort was an active resort in that people seemed to be doing a lot of excursions off the resort and leaving early in the morning for those excursions. This was a big snorkeling and scuba area and there was a large group of guests doing those things. Everything went smoothly with the entertainment staff. They were very accommodating and friendly. Overall at great experience that I will do again!

I have been with Fit Bodies, Inc for almost 15 years now and I have to confess that joining Fit Bodies is one of the most rewarding decisions I could have made. With every Fitness Vacation I learn and experience new and exciting people, cultures and traditions. Things that I would not have encountered simply teaching classes here in the United States alone. I tell all of my fitness peers that this is the way to vacation...

Yoga - 7 to 10 participants daily; outdoors, in the shade-perfect! Zumba- 3-10 participants daily; outdoors in the shade with a great sound system and water provided by the staff--perfect!! The Entertainment staff at Secrets Aura was one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with. So enthusiastic and helpful; they made it so easy and fun! The whole trip went very smoothly from booking to check out! I can't wait to go again!

This was my first teaching vacation. Amazing resort. We were treated like royalty. We upgraded to preferred. If you are looking for the perfect teaching schedule, then this is the place for you. 9 a.m. at secrets and 10 a.m. at sunscape. Alex, the entertainment leader is so easy going and his team is so fun. The turnout for the classes were small numbers. 9 a.m. at secrets only a few people showed up a few of the days. That was ok. My husband and I would take off and play tennis when no one showed up. The resort is I guess small compared to others (248 rooms or so) the servers try hard to remember your names. Place was very clean. Bring your water shoes for entering the ocean. There is limestone which makes entering the beach a little tricky but we were prepared. Pools are warm and drinks are delicious. I will go back:-)

We loved Aura and enjoyed our week in February! I taught once on the beach every morning and it was beautiful. (1 day I taught an extra class at the sister resort next door & 1 day it rained so we met in a covered terrace area which was very nice) The employees were so friendly and helpful, brining me towels to use as mats every morning. Alex, the activities manager was welcoming & great to work with. Aura has entertainment most every day & night. The food was very good, with many restaurant options. The guests were friendly & loved practicing yoga. The class grew from 4 the first day to up to 15. We are going back in November and can't wait :)

The resort was beautiful and the food was amazing. It was really nice having access to both Secrets and Sunscape as it added more variety to the meal options. The entertainment staff was very laid back and that was initially a little bit of a challenge for me (Type A all the way). When I arrived on Sunday I tried to contact them multiple times without any luck so I ended up not having a clue about Monday's plans. I did get ahold of them on Monday and taught Yoga at 9 at Secrets and Water Aerobics at noon at Sunscape. The staff was very nice. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and would go back for the experience again.
