Couples Negril

We've been to Couples Negril many times. Our last trip was 10 years ago. I was happy to see that Bellard is still the fitness manager. He is a great guy! And the tenure of the staff is a testimony to the resort. Employees truly love working here and they are the nicest people! Everything at this resort is excellent - the food, the range of activities, entertainment, beautiful clear and wide oceanfront, pool. All the water sports are included: windsurfing, snorkeling, kayak, glass bottom boat, catamaran sunset cruise, and even scuba diving is included. My husband learned to scuba dive here years ago and went out twice a day on dives while I taught classes. A few tips about teaching: I taught 2x a day. Either two in the morning or one in the AM and one in the afternoon. People rarely show up in the afternoon. The most popular class is water aerobics so if you are only used to teaching on land, I recommend looking on YouTube and getting familiar with water aerobics moves. I set up in the shade when I taught it. There is a first aid hut behind the garden rooms (tucked past the tennis courts). Nobody tells you this, but it is good to know in case of emergency. The staff do have Whatsapp so you can communicate that way. But there is no formal Whatsapp channel as of April 2024. Bring your own wireless speaker. The speakers are broken at the gym and there is no hook up by the pool. The E-Team was usually not around when I taught water aerobics, so sometimes, I'd just use the music that was playing at the pool bar bc it was too loud to play my music over it. If you want to bring gifts for staff, Bellard has a young son. I think he is about 3 yrs old. As others have mentioned, write a note saying it is a gift. Other tips: Bring strong bug spray. I used a DEET and natural one and they still got me! The windows have slats so also put bug spray in your room. I was a little nervous about the crime warning in Jamaica, but I felt 110% safe on the island including from the airport to the hotel. I also took Bellard's class as well as all the yoga classes taught by Rosa. Both are a nice challenge from the norm and I recommend them!
